Story Review: Kaci is an eleven year old girl who enjoys being thrilled by scary movies or books. But her journey happens sooner than she expected. This book is called “hostage” because she gets kidnapped by three guys and they make her their hostage. Kaci and her family move to a house in Lofty Cedars Estates. Her and her family loved their house until Kaci goes home to get her allergy spray and suspects that someone else is in the house. Three guys named Buddy, Cal, and Bo were three guys who were robbing her new house. The three guys took everything they saw especially the stuff that looked valuable. Kaci panicked, because she knew she needed to do something, and she needed get out of the house. But it was too late.

Later on she finds out Mrs. Banducci, her neighbor was also kidnapped by the three robbers. Secretly Kaci writes a note on the wall saying Mrs. Banducci and she were kidnapped by the three robbers named Bo, Cal and Buddy. Cal, Buddy and Bo took them and turned them into their hostage. If they didn’t need them anymore they were planning to kill them by tying them into their truck and drive the truck into the lake. In another words they were in BIG trouble. Kaci is frightened but Mrs. Banducci thinks she can save Kaci and herself. Will they come home safely? The theme of this book is adventure and mystery because this book has lot of reverse and oddity.

Christian perspective: Throughout the book Kaci faces a lot of trials but every time she faces hard trails she prays and asks God for help. This is hard to do. Even Christians have a hard times doing this, but this is not always the best idea. If you are just asking for help and do not have a deep relationship with God, this is basically using him. The book Hostage is written in Christian perspective because whenever Kaci faces trials she prays to God.

My thoughts: I really enjoyed reading this book. I couldn’t put the book the down. It was well written and the book was easy to read. I loved how the author put a twist to it so it was more mysterious. I chose this book because one of my friends recommended this to me. I recommend this book to someone who likes mystery books.

  1. Calling on God during a time of hardship or when we have no idea of what to do is pretty common for us. However, like you mention, if this is the only way we know God, it is just like using Him in the tough times. God is more than our rescuer. He wants a relationship with us no matter what's going on in our lives. So while it's good to call on him in the tough times, it's better to call on Him ALL the time. Pray without ceasing.
