The picture of Dorian Gray

Author: Oscar Wilde

Publisher: Playmore INC and  Waldman publishing corp.

Place and Year of publication: New York, 1888

# of pages: 240

I found it in my brothers room

Story Review

The books name is The picture of Dorian Gray cause when this painter paints a picture of Dorian and then he thought that when he grows old that he will look at this picture and want to feel young again. The time and place is 1976 in London. The main characters in this book are Basil,
Lord Henry, Dorian Gray, Sibyl Vane, and James Vane. The problems in this book are when Basil paints the picture, when Dorian falls in love, Sibyl commits suicide, when Dorian kills Basil, when James is killed and when Dorian changes place with the horrible painting. The theme is hard to find but the theme is how mad some people get.

Christian perspective

This book was not written in a Christian perspective if it was then it would of been like Dorian praying or Basil praying and Dorian would of liked sibyl for her not her talent. Dorian would of loved her and he would've cared that he was growing old cause then when he dies he would go to heaven.

Your thoughts

I chose this book cause it looked interesting. My opinion of the book is that its cool and interesting but I was kind of bored when i read it. I liked the book cause it was just my kind of book but I didn't like it cause it was just a bit confusing. I would recommend it to people who like fiction cause this is a fiction book

Destiny

C.S Lewis The storyteller
Author: Derick Bingham
Publisher: Omnia Glasgow
Place and year of publication: Christian Focus Publications Ltd
Number of pages: 171
Where I found the book: the school library

Story review
The title is the storyteller because C.S Lewis because he wrote many books like the Narnia series. It takes place in many places it takes place in England and Germany. The main characters are C.S Lewis (aka Jack) and his brother warren. There isn't really a problem well I guess he is in the army and he has been moved around alot cause of his school. There are many themes in this book but the main theme is about his life. This book is a great book.
Christian perspective
C.S Lewis was a Christian when he was younger but when he grew up he started thinking that there was no God but then when he got a letter from his brother he started believing in God again. I think that he should have had
God in his life all the time. In this book there is war and all that but he came back alive there is also a time period when he sends his dad a whole bunch of letters to come ans see him but his dad never came. He could have prayed that his dad would come or that he would be safe during the war.
Your thoughts
I chose this book because I had to do a biography although I don't like biographies my opinion of this book is that it is a good book. I liked this book because I like C.S Lewis's books that he writes like the NARNIA series he put something really cool in this book I will put it at the end of my book report. I would recommend this book to people that like biographies cause they might like biographies

Poppy by:Destiny

Poppy
Author:Avi Floca
Publisher:Harper Collins
Place and year of publication:U.S.A, 1995
Number of pages: 161
Where you found this book: in the school library
story review
The title is poppy cause the main character is a mouse named poppy. In the beginning of this book Poppy and her boyfriend Ragweed go to bannock hill and that is where Ragweed was going to ask Poppy to marry him but Mr.Ocax kills Ragweed. The main characters are: Poppy, Lungwort, sweet Cicely, Basil, Mr.Ocax, Ereth. All the mice were named after flowers and fruit. The problems in this book are that Mr.ocax wont let the mouse family move so Poppy wants to know why so she sets off to figure out why. The important events in here are basically only when Poppy tries to find out why they cant move to the new house. The theme in this story is fantasy. i love these series i want to read the whole series.
christian perspective
I don't know if the author was a christian if she was she could of made Poppy pray to God and ask why her family wasn't allowed to move. The characters in this book could mean something like Mr.Ocax cold be Satan and Poppy could be us and the new house could be heaven and Ereth could be Jesus cause Satan doesn't want us to go to heaven and we go through these stages like Poppy meets Ereth we meet Jesus and he helps us along the way.
your thoughts
i chose this book cause it was short and cause i like animals. I like this book cause it has adventure and the main character is a mouse which is an animal so I really liked it. i would recommend this book to people who like mice or my sister cause they like animals as main characters and its a short book.

Destiny convincing paragraph

of course you need to have commitment to survive alone. if you don't have commitment then you would sit around and die, also if you didn't have commitment to try and get food and water you would also die. In the "hatchet" Brian had commitment to build tools and fire. In the
"cast away" Chuck had commitment to get off the island.

Mayday at 2500

Mayday

At two thousand five hundred

Author: Frank E Peretti

Publisher: Tommy Nelson

Number of pages: 132

It was published in 1997 in Canada

I found it in the school library

Mayday at 2500 is about Jay Cooper and his uncle Rex who went flying to the Cascade Mountains. When a huge jet flew over them the wind turbulence was strong it knocked Rex unconscious and Jay with a bad head injury.

Once in the story they want jay to land the plane in the water but that would mean he would have to crash in the water and only save himself but not uncle Rex.

So the titles resemblance with the book is that the title says mayday at 2500 that is when they get knocked out at 2500 above ground it is a big experience for him.

Christian perspective

My reaction to this book is since it’s a Christian book I loved it they prayed a lot in this book he might have been praying a lot like I would be praying a lot. Jay was thankful God kept him safe.

My thoughts

I thought that this was a good book because it had adventure and at every chapter you would not want to stop. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Frank E Peretti or who ever like’s a adventure with the cooper kid’s series

Composition

The setting was in an airplane and in an airport.

The characters are:

Jay, uncle Rex, Dr. Cooper, the aunt and Jay’s Sister Lilia.

The problem was that Rex got knocked out and Jay was blinded by blood from his head injury and Jay had to land blind.
