Christian Perspective

This book was written in Christian perspective. Coopers family belief was really strong. There was never a moment the the questioned God. They never lost faith and always trusted God. when things didn't go there way they prayed and and never lost their faith,  and always stayed true to him.

My Thoughts

This is definitely one of the best fantasy books I've ever read. I found this book very interesting to read. The reason  I chose this book because my E.L.A teacher recommended it to me. What I liked about this book is that a Christian author wrote it, and I was excited to see how the author would write a Christian fantasy book. What is disliked was that the action took forever to start and felt that the book like a year for me to read. I would recommend this book to people who like fantasy.

Title: On the course with Tiger Woods

Author: Matt Christopher

Publisher: Little, Brown and Company

Place& year of publication: the book didn't mention anything

Where I found it: CHS library

Number of pages: 129pg.

Summary

As any other child, Tiger's parents mean the world to him. His dads name is Earl Wood and his mothers name is Kultida Woods. The main characters of this book is Tiger Woods and his parents. The theme is of this book is adventurous because Tiger Woods starts from being an unknown kid and becomes one of the biggest sport stars today. the title of this book is called on the course with Tiger Woods which means doing deeper into Tiger Woods golf life.

Most who played golf were white people or really rich people. So it was hard for Tiger Wood to play golf because people would always make raciest comments because he was black. But at the end of each game no one said anything about his skin because they would be amazed at his golf skills. As Tiger was still in elementary he was getting a lot of college offers. But he ended going pro before going to college.

Tiger Woods was always too good to be true. From the moment his father first put a club in his hands, before he even took his first steps. He made his first public appearance at the age of 2, on the Mike Douglas Show, where he dazzled the audience with a swing that left people gasping. As an amateur golfer, he put together a record so dominating that it was unbelievable, winning six national titles in succession, three Junior Amateurs, followed by three Amateurs. When he turned pro, he not only racked up victories in regular PGA Tour events but also won major championships by breaking records.

Christian perspective

This book was not written in a christian perspective but it had a lot of Christ like actions. For instance when people would always make raciest comments, Tiger Woods wouldn't respond in a aggressive way he would go home and talk to his parents about it. The book said only one thing about Tigers religion and it mentioned that he was a Buddhist. Even though Tiger Woods was not christian he was always kind and he acted like a christian.

My thoughts

This is definitely one of the best biographies I've ever read. Despite not being a fan of golf, I still found this book very interesting. From him starting to play golf at a young age and still be really good, It shows you why Tiger Woods is such a great golfer. Who doesn't want to know the secret of being a great athlete? It seems like Tiger Woods is such a great golfer because he started playing golf at a very young age.

Heroes Don't Run

Title: Heroes Don't Run
Author: Harry Mazer
Publisher: First scholastic printing
Place and year of publication: New York 2005
Number of pages: 113
Where I found the book: school library

Book Summary

At the age of seventeen Adam is ready to be in the armed forces. He feels that he cannot wait until he is eighteen to be in the armed forces and that he has to do his best to get into the fight against the Japanese as soon as possible. Since his mother will not sign the paperwork needed to be in the armed forces, Adam travels across the country to New York to see his grandfather. Adam is sure that his grandfather, once a soldier himself, will sign the papers that will let Adam do what he thinks he must. Eventually Adam's grandfather agrees and soon Adam is in the marines. The main theme of this book is showing off, Adam joins the marines because he cannot wait another year and wants to show off to his friends, he successfully goes through the training in boot camp like it was nothing, and goes to Okinawa, he writes letters to his friends showing off that he is actually joined the army and that he is actually serving his country.

After Adam was done his training at the boot camp he and his friends were transferred to camp Lejeune in North Carolina and they all receive their first guns. The Sergents in this story are very rude, one time Sergent Bessie ordered the soldiers to clean the footlockers by scrubbing them down, cleaning their clothes, and do physical activities. The insane activities and drills that they make the troops do proves that these are real heroes. After Adam and his friends leave Camp Lejeune they appear more tougher. The training that they made then do there really made them feel grown and mature.

The reason that Adam's mom did not agree to Adam being the armed forces is that because she has lost everyone because of war eventually she lost Adams father. Adam’s father died when the battleship Arizona sank during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Adam witnessed the sinking. In fact, he and two of his buddies were actually out in the harbor near the Arizona when it exploded and sank. Even though that Adam he has been taught a great deal about battle and fighting, when Adam finds himself on the Japanese island of Okinawa, the truth of what war is really like is a shock. There is so much chaos, and death is every where around him. As one of fellow soldiers die in droves, Adam does his best to do his job and to stay alive for he has promised his mother that he will return to her.

My thoughts

I think the author did a really good job describing the book especially the battle scenes, by using details and words like blood and pale faces of the dead people. I couldn't wait another day to read the book. I could really imagine the war scenes. I would recommend this book to people who like war and action and to people who want to know more about World War 2. Personally I loved this book I think this is the best book I ever read in my whole life time.

Christian perspective

Adam was not raised from a christian home, but the characteristic he showed were very like Christ. but it also showed people are not perfect. Adam was fight for his country and her wanted revenge on the Japaneses because they killed his father but the worse part about this is that he witnessed the killing of his dad and that haunted him. The courage he had was unbelievable he was not afraid to give his life for his friends. The promise he made to his mom that he will return alive that is what drove him to stay alive, the memory of the promise he made. This book really taught me to keep the promises I make.

Hope

Hope is what you have when everything else is gone, hope is what drives your to do better. Hope is an act of looking forward to with a desire and reasonable confidence. I was reading a story one time and it was about a lady who was in so much pain that she just gave up and people would always tell her to put her hope in God But she was in so much pain she just could not do it. On time she decided to read her Bible and she turns to Isaiah 40:31 '' but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.'' From that day on she never been the same. In the hatchet Bryan remembered that his teacher was talking about not giving up and that gave him hope to not give up.

Title: Chasing The Falconers
Author: Gordon Korman

Number of Pages: 154
Where I Found the Book: CHS Library

Story review

The books name is Chasing the falconers. The main characters are Aiden and Meg Falconers and Miguel Reyes. Aiden and Meg are siblings and they meet Miguel during the escape and go on the run together. The setting of this book takes place in Sunnydale but since throughout the book they are on the run so the setting changes. While they were on the run they go through Vermont and Nebraska. The Theme of this book is adventurous because they are always on a adventure. It's called Chasing the Falconers because the Falconers are on the run and the FBI are chasing them

Aiden and Meg Falconers are at a juvenile detention farm called Sunnydale and their parents are in jail for life for something they didn't do. Aiden and Meg think that they can prove there parents are innocent. They live their whole lives not being able to talk to their family. An accidental fire happens at Sunnydale farm, during the fire Aiden and Meg make escape. There mission was to find frank lindenauer and prove their parents are innocent.

While they were on the run they meet Miguel. Miguel was accused of manslaughter because he pushed his (possibly abusive) stepfather down the stairs. It is unknown whether it was accidentally or purposely. When they reach there destination which is Vermont everyone didn't like them so one guy comes and attacks he shoots Miguel. So Aiden and Meg call 911 and make a run. They steal a ATV and drive into the forest. When the cops came they took Miguel to the hospital.

Christian Perspective

In my opinion I think this book was written from a christian perspective because It mention them praying a couple times. The characters is this book were not afraid to give their life for each other. Even though Aiden and Miguel were not siblings they were like brothers. They have such a deep love that one time in the book Miguel takes a bullet for Aiden.

My Thoughts

In my opinion this book was amazing. It is action filled and it really takes you through on a adventure. I really enjoyed reading this book. I chose this book because it stood out the most from all of the other books. I recommend this book to people who like adventurous and action filled books especially to people who have a big imagination.

The main the characters in Mr. Poppers Penguins are Mr. and Mrs. Popper and his two children Janie and Bill. This book takes you in a big adventure and it has a lot of ups and downs.

When Mr. Popper was Painting a housewife kitchen, he painted the kitchen two different colours, after a while everyone stared having two coloured kitchen instead of one. My thoughts

I think this book was really good. The reason I chose this book because I like animals and penguins. The author did a really good job writing the book. I would recommend this book to people who like animals or penguins. Personally I really like this book.

Christians Perspective

I don't think this book was made to be Christian. But Christians can easily add on to it. Like one time in this book Mr. Popper had little money and he wasted it all on the penguins. He bought the food he made them beds even though the penguins really weren't his. That the love Christians need to have.
