HOPE!!!!!!!!!!

Hope is the most important component of surviving alone because without it you will think you will never get rescued so you won’t try to find food and water and you will probably die. If you have hope though you will have the strength and perseverance to find food and water and find shelter. In the movie “Cast Away”, Chuck was always thinking of ways to get food or build or improve his shelter, but if he had no hope he would have thought after four years he would never be rescued. Chuck also used a ball as a friend so he would not lose hope feel like and somebody was always going to be there with him. If Chuck didn’t have hope he wouldn’t have built that raft he probably would have killed himself and not thought of any ways to get off that island.

Hope

Hope is what you have when everything else is gone, hope is what drives your to do better. Hope is an act of looking forward to with a desire and reasonable confidence. I was reading a story one time and it was about a lady who was in so much pain that she just gave up and people would always tell her to put her hope in God But she was in so much pain she just could not do it. On time she decided to read her Bible and she turns to Isaiah 40:31 '' but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.'' From that day on she never been the same. In the hatchet Bryan remembered that his teacher was talking about not giving up and that gave him hope to not give up.

Convincing paragraph

The most important component in a situation of surviving alone in any location is water. The reason why is because people have claimed that an average person can live for 3-4 days without water. Without water a person with a right mind would search for some water knowing they might die if they wouldn't from dehydration. If they do look for some water and fail to succeed, that person is basically counting how many days they can survive, and maybe hope people find out how long he or she survives and put him or her in the world record book. In hatchet Brain was fortunate to land/crash in a lake so he didn't need to find or look for water, he could get water when he needed it and it was right there when he needed it. If you were in a dessert with obviously no water what is the use of any other component of surviving.

Convincing Paragraph

Without perseverance you have no hope of surviving alone.even if you have food and water it will eventually run out and you would die.But with perseverance you will have will to find more food and keep your self alive. In the movie Cast away When Chuck was trying to make fire he had a lot of difficulties but he kept on going and ended up with warm place to sleep and food to eat.But if he did not have any guts to fail and retry he would have killed him self or died eventually.

Convincing Paragraph

Having a sharp object can mean the difference between life and death when trying to survive. A sharp object is important because it can be useful in many situations – it enables you to be resourceful. For example, in the movie Cast Away, Chuck wouldn’t have been able to cut open the coconut if he didn’t have the rock with the sharp edge. In The Hatchet, Brian was able to complete almost all of his life-saving tasks with the hatchet. You can’t cut down a tree with your bare hands! In daily life we have so many things that are essential to our lives, but machines make most objects. When you are in the wilderness, you need to be creative and use what is around you. Having a sharp tool enables you to make better use of your environment. That is why having a sharp object is the most important tool of survival.

Food and Water

When surviving, two thought cross your mind,
surviving and being rescued but how would you survive without food and water?
Having a good supply of food and water is like the trunk of a tree, it branches
off to many other important things. When you have food and water, you now have
saved time instead of wasting time searching for food, with that out of your
way you now have more time to spend on making and improving your shelter and
rescue signal. A good supply of food and water gives you hope of living. With
that hope you won’t be panicking as much. If you were stuck on Island there 3
main things that you need to accomplish such as finding food, making a shelter,
and a rescue signal. But with a good supply of food and water you now have 1
less thing to worry about. In the hatchet Brian has many things to accomplish
such as finding food, shelter, and making a rescue signal. The book mentions
Brian spending hours trying to find food so he wasted time on improving shelter
and rescue signal. Without food and water you won’t last long. Food and water
give you hope of living and being rescued

PERSEVERANCE!!!

With perseverance you will have a reason and a purpose to live through surviving alone. Perseverance will always tell you to keep on going and to never give up, so no matter what you do you will have a reason to find what you are looking for. Food and water will quench you for awhile but perseverance will give you the mentality to go on and look for more food. When Chuck was tyring to make a fire, he failed a lot of times, and if he gave up he wouldn't have a fire, but because he kept on trying he ended up in success. Chuck was on the island for 1460 days, imagine if Chuck gave up on any of those days, he would die, but again perseverance got him through. He looked for a reason to live and he got it. "Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is courage to persevere that will count(Winston Churchill)."

Luke's Convincing Paragraph

What is the most important thing that you need to survive alone? Is it water? Food? Strength? Knowing how to swim and what to eat? No! All of these things are very helpful, but the most important aspect of survivng alone is a will to live. You could have all the knowledge in the world, all the food and water you'll ever need, you could be super strong, but if you don't have a will to live, they become useless. And if there's a man, stranded on an island, doesn't know anything about survival, is very weak, and has no food and water, but has a will to live, he will survive longer than the person who studies island food, knows what to eat and where to find it, can crack open coconuts, and is very strong, but has no will to live. Even peseverance isn't as helpful as a will to live. Because if you have peseverance, but no will to survive, you will pesevere at suicide. In Gary Paulson's "Hatchet", Brian almost kills himself because he thinks he has no will to live. He realises he does though, and this saves his life. Because if you have water and absolutely no will to survive, you'll just drown yourself. Because if you don't want to live, you're probably not going to live. So, if you're on an island, stranded, alone, the one thing you need to survive, the thing you need the most, is a will to survive.

Survival Paragraph

Hope is the flame inside us, flickering brave and bright. Even when our whole world is utter darkness. It has been said that one can go four days without water, a week without food, but not one minute without hope. Without hope, there is no hunger to live, no want to be alive, no chance of survival.
I know that Brian was afraid living in the wilderness alone, but he still had hope that someone would find him, hope that he would live. When Brian heard that simple beautiful hum, he had more hope than ever before. He could see himself with his father, crunching on sweet juicy corn laughing together. That's when his heart stopped, only for a second, then pounded harder and faster, as if it were about to explode. The plane was gone, more inportantly, so was his hope. Hope is a gift from the Lord, but it is up to us to hold on to it. If someone is in a desert, with no water and no hope, he will die. Hoever, if someone is in a desert without water, but still has hope, they will look for water. They will live until their bodies die, but the hope never dies out. The flame still flickers bright.

The Most Important Component of Survival

Without hope, it is almost impossible to survive alone in the wilderness. It is important because if you have water or food, but have no desire to live, than there is no use to have the other two components. If you have hope, you are willing to keep yourself alive, to keep going, and wanting to live. It helps you believe that you will survive, that someone will come for you, and that you will make it through the situation. In the book Hatchet, Brian gives up when the plane didn’t see him. He was thinking that the plane wouldn’t return, and that he would never leave the wilderness. But after he realizes that he must not let the thought of death come in again. So Brian thinks of himself as a new person. A person with hope. Also in the movie Castaway, Chuck has a hope of survival because he was on the island for 1460 days. But he continued looking for food and water and has hope to live and he believes that someone will come for him.

Survivng Paragraph!

Survivng alone is hard enough, but is possible with strength? Finding a reliable source of food or healthy water may have a few bumps in the road. But if you believe you have a lot of strength, you can pull it through another day. Making a fire or building a shelter take skills, but what make those skills are strength. Surviving alone is almost as painful as having no strength at all. No strength equals giving up. If you were going to commit suicide, you would need the strength to say no, and say also say ''There is a reason to live''. In the movie Castaway, Chuck had strength through the loud, windy, rainy, cold and thundering night - alone. On those extremely hot days, I would have no idea what to do.On the other hand, Brian from the book Hatchet, also had a lot of strength. Brian never gave up by making a fire or going into the water to go and get the emergancy kit and the hatchet which fell. Chuck and Brian remind me of Mario and Luigi. Everytime the ''bros'' died whiles trying to defeat Bowser, they had strength to keep going and to never give up. You as the controller, may yell and scream when you die. But in real life you need strength to stay alive. There are a lot of components of surviving alone, but strength is definitely the most important one because that's all you need.

Demiana's Paragraph on The Most Important Component of Surviving Alone

One may be stranded on an island perhaps with water, food, or even fire, but can be missing one thing that allows a human to stay alive for the longest time he can in surviving alone, sanity! With sanity, a person has control over his actions and resources. Without sanity, a person is actually safer in a place with fewer resources, as he will have fewer ways to hurt himself. For example, if you’re stranded in a desert with absolutely no resources and no sanity, it will be harder to hurt yourself than in a place where you have more resources that you can use in the wrong way without sanity. Therefore with sanity you will not risk your life for things that are worthless. In the movie Cast Away, Chuck spent 4 years alone on an island in the middle of no where. He found remains from what was in the plane, including a volleyball. He was so lonely and became so insane to the point that he developed feelings for it and a relationship with it! Chuck almost drowned himself to get his volleyball “friend” back. He had water, but could have died using it for a ridiculous and worthless reason without realizing it! Sanity will give you time to reflect before you act, less chance to feel depression, and you will be aware enough to regain your hope and your will of life, finding a reason to live! In the book Hatchet, Brian is stranded alone in the Northern Canadian Wilderness. In less than 54 days, he actually tried committing suicide using his hatchet from what has happened to him and his many failures in making tools for survival. He felt useless and used his tool of living to kill himself. Also, he lost his hope because of insanity and his fast horrible reaction to it. Sanity is very hard to keep in times like this, which is why so many people don’t make it!

E.L.A Paragraph

The most important component of surviving alone is hope because if you dont have it, you won't see a point to carry on. You can have enough food and water and knowledge, but all that doesn't matter if you don't hope because you have to believe that there is something worth fighting for and that something better is going to come along. In the Hatchet, when Bryan was working on making a bow and arrow he suddenly heard the roaring of a plane. He ran as fast as he could until he got back to his campsite, then he rushed to make a fire and get the smoke going. When he realized that the roaring was getting softer and softer until he couldn't hear it anymore, he felt like there was no point to carry on because no one was coming for him. So he tried to kill himself, but then he realized that he had to have hope and he had to keep going. In the end he got rescued! And in the movie Castaway, Chuck got stranded on the island for 4 years! But even after he tried to kill himself, and his best friend being a volleyball, he never gave up! He made a raft and went out to sea to find a boat or land, and in the end he got rescued too!

Survival Convincing Paragraph

Would you be able to survive in the wilderness…alone? Us humans rely on others a lot. Companionship helps us survive everywhere, even in the wilderness. Companionship gives you something to live for. When you have a reason to survive you want to gather food and find shelter. Companionship also helps you to not get as lonely or depressed as you normally would. In Cast Away, Chuck was on the island for four years. Without his friend volleyball, Wilson, he wouldn’t have survived that long. Chuck wanted to survive for Wilson. So when Wilson floated away Chuck became sad and he didn’t care anymore if he lived or died. To survive in the wilderness you need companionship.

ELA convincing paragraph

ELA Convincing paragraph

Imagine, if you got lost in the middle of nowhere, what would be one component that would help you survive? To survive alone, you need wisdom. Wisdom is more important than food, water, phones, or any other survival tools. Even if you have all the tools, food, or any the other things, without wisdom, you will not know how to use it in the way that will benefit you and help you survive. For example, in the book Hatchet, Brian had a hatchet, but he didn’t know how to make a fire at first, but he used his wisdom to make a fire. At first, Brian couldn’t find any food, so he used his wisdom to catch living things, so that he can cook and eat and not starve to death. Wisdom can also lead to perseverance, companionship, making the right choice and even hope. Even if you have perseverance, you need hope, and if you have companionship, you need to make the right choice, but wisdom leads to all the components of survival. Like Chuck in the movie Cast away, he really wanted to be rescued and go back to his home, so he used his wisdom to build a boat by using things that he found on the island and using his Fed- Ex boxes to build his boat. He also used his time wisely so that he wouldn’t run into a weather problem. Wisdom doesn’t make you survive just in the wilderness or in the middle of nowhere, but it will make you survive everywhere and every way.

Survival Convincing Paragraph

Is food truly the most important aspect of surviving alone , or is there something more essential to the surviving of humans, like perseverance? Without perseverance you will simply loose your will of staying alive. If you don't decide to keep going even if everything is going against you, you will simply loose, and nothing will ever change that. Surviving is like a game, that's between you and nature, and you play by nature's rules. The only way you could win is by never giving up no matter what comes your way. If Brian didn't have perseverance he would have never went to the plane and spent hours piercing through stubborn steel, that eventually led to his rescue. If Chuck didn't have perseverance he would have never built the raft to sail in the unknown, dark and dangerous waters of the Pacific, that also led to his rescue. So, without perseverance they would have never been rescued. And therefore perseverance is the only true key to survival.

Convincing Paragraph

If you were stranded all alone in the middle of nowhere, self determination would drive you to fight for survival. Determination is the most important component of survival because it will always keep you going. If you are determined to find something, you won't stop until you have it. In Hatchet, Brian is determined to get fish, and even after missing numerous times his perseverance pays off and determination wins over. When he is making a fire he tries many different things that don't work. One technique he used was to make a nest of finely cut bark. He cut the bark for two hours, which took great determination, and in the end it results in fire. Survival is about trial and error, and if you stop trying after failing once, you'll never stay alive. Even if you fail over and over again, determination will lead to success and survival,

By Paris
Of course knowledge of nature is definitely the most important component of surviving alone. It is because if you know how fire works, you can make a fire. If you know what wood is best, and how to get it, then you could make the tools you need. For example if Brian knew about moose and when they are most aggressive, he would know when to be careful and he wouldn’t  have gotten thrown in the lake and have his ribs hurt. Also, if chuck knew how to purify water, he wouldn’t have had to drink coconut milk for 4 years.

Destiny convincing paragraph

of course you need to have commitment to survive alone. if you don't have commitment then you would sit around and die, also if you didn't have commitment to try and get food and water you would also die. In the "hatchet" Brian had commitment to build tools and fire. In the
"cast away" Chuck had commitment to get off the island.

Fire, the most important thing for survival

If, by chance, you are stranded on an island or lost in the deep woods, fire is the most important thing to have to survive. If you have a fire you can stay warm, you can keep away wild animals, you can signal a plane, and countless other things necessary for survival. In the book ' Hatchet', fire brings hope for Brian and provides a friend for him. In the movie ' Castaway', Chuck was struggling for a fire because he knew it was essential for survival. They were both striving for fire because they both knew they needed it to survive. Both Chuck and Brian spent countless hours trying to make a fire. They both knew that fire was the difference between life and death. They both knew that with fire, they cook the food they got and boil water to make it sanitary so they wouldn't get sick from it. These are only some of the endless reasons fire is the most essential component to have for survival and that is why fire is the most important thing for survival.
Paragraph assignment
To have the hope of surviving is the most important component of surviving alone in the wilderness. When you lose hope in life you give up the same with surviving when you lose hope you give up and eventually die. Without hope Brian started to give up. He had built an bow and arrow ,he had made an spear ,he had enough food and he knew how to fish but with out hope they where useless to him.
